LMSD Promotes One Principal, Starts Another Search
The school board confirmed Scott Eveslage would leave Welsh Valley Middle School to run Harriton High School.
Neither middle school in the Lower Merion School District has a principal in place yet for the 2012-2013 school year, after the Board of School Directors on Monday night named Welsh Valley Middle School Principal Scott Eveslage to replace the retiring Steven Kline at Harriton High School.
Eveslage is leaving Welsh Valley after three years at the helm, while Margery Andersen is retiring as Bala Cynwyd Middle School's principal at year's end. Cynwyd Elementary School is also losing its principal, Connie DiMedio, to retirement.
The board has been looking for replacements for Andersen and DiMedio and will begin on Tuesday the process of replacing Eveslage, Superintendent Chris McGinley said at Monday's board meeting.
The deadline to apply for the WVMS job is May 11. Applicants for the other principal jobs will need to put in separately for it, McGinley said.
Eveslage, who will be paid a base salary of $142,000 at Harriton, addressed the board after it confirmed his promotion.
"I'm really excited about the opportunity at Harriton, and I thank you very much for the support. I look forward to immersing myself in the Harriton school community. I'm also excited about continuing the relationships I've made with students at Welsh Valley Middle School," said Eveslage. "I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how special the last three years have been at Welsh Valley. It's with a little bit of sadness that I move on."
