When you review the messaging over the last week by the Republican's on their campaign trail, their surrogates like Limbaugh and FOX talking heads, etc. they have inserted the word angry as many times as possible when referring to the President.

I personally believe that the stereo type of the "Angry Black Man" is something that our President has been very aware of and therefore, often does not aggressively go after his opponents.

I do believe that our President was very Presidential in behavior tonight and could have wiped the floor with Romney, which is very clear especially after going to all the fact check sights.

This is one of a few things that have frustrated many about our President when it comes to the Republicans. He needs to go to the mattresses with Mittens, who told one lie after another during the debate.

Seriously Earnest? What debate were you watching? Our citizens finally got the chance to see Obama for what he really is, and he is certainly not presidential!

Earnest, Concerned Parent has a great question; "What debate were you watching?" However, I would more aptly ask; What were you LISTENING to, while you were watching the debate? Because 60 plus Million tuned into the debate, even though, like you, not everyone heard what was actually said. I know that, because, unlike you, I checked on what others were saying, like MSNBC, or what I refer to as the "BO network". You can decide what the BO stands for....

Fact checking???? You're a devout "Fact Checker" and you still supporting Obama??? You do know that there were two people speaking, right??? Or do you need more fact checking on that too?

That said, you must also must feel right at home, commenting here on the Patch. Let's see, you're a fact checking, deaf Liberal, commenting on a rag that has how many Obama ads peppered all over each and every page???

This evening millions of folks, whether they were Americans or not, whether they were registered to vote or not, had the opportunity to see two men state their cases as to why he should be voted in as President of the United States.

Each viewer could see, for themselves, without commentary, opinion, or filtering what each had to offer. Whether you were for one or the other, is of no matter to me. Only that you, as an individual, steer clear of the bias, misleading, and, in some cases, corrupt analysis of the media.

Only with an opened mind, with your own due diligence, can all Americans feel good about our election process. Sure, we're only provided (by whatever means) two choices. And, maybe there are others out there that would make better candidates, but these two, not counting their running mates, are what we have to choose from.

So, please take this honor, duty, privilege seriously and do what you feel is the right and just path to learn what you need to know to make your vote, not your friend's vote, not your bosses vote, not your wife's vote, but your vote a GOOD vote. It's something we will all have to live with -- at least for the next four years.

How refreshing to see clear minded people commenting on the patch. Jim you are dead on. It is amazing that this thread has 4 comments but 'Big Bird' has over twenty. It goes to show that content and facts don't matter to avid followers of the Patch. Obama clearly lost last night and the public was given the opportunity to see his record.

Just to clear up some of the issues. http://factcheck.org/2012/10/dubious-denver-debate-declarations/ ...One side was a lot more dishonest than the other, one was more cool headed and one was more angry.... wait what happened the last time we had a hot head in office? How many men and women died due to a war that was sold to us with a bunch of lies? How many allies hated us? Just a few thoughts

While I agree that most of Romney's claims were lies, many people don't bother looking up the facts so his ability to be dishonest with a smile really helped him out last night. Obama seemed like he was holding back (most likely because he was surprised that Romney didn't implode like many expected) and should have called Romney out more. It's kind of like when you play a last place team. You take them lightly while they give 100% effort and they end up kicking your butt. After last night, I don't think Obama will underestimate Mitt Romney again.

While Romney clearly came off much better than expected in this debate, much of what he actually said were lies. Obama frankly seemed unprepared and I think he was a little cocky expecting Romney to make a fool of himself like McCain did in 2008. When that didn't happen, he had trouble getting off script. To Romney's credit, he kept himself in the race at a time when a bad showing could have buried him.

I still don't think that Romney's "win" did much to change anyones mind regarding how they will vote however. I also think Obama will come out guns blazing in the next two debates. Unless there is a horrible gaffe, people tend to forget the first debate and focus on the last one.

While the ideas exposed last night in the debate were interesting, I am certain, however, that following Novembers election there will be no meaningful progress moving forward, resolving the life changing issues looming before us. Lamentably, one of these guys will be president, and yet we continue to sit and eat ice cream, as the house burns around us. I have already started apologizing to my children, as yet too young to vote, for the callous disregard by most Americans, in allowing our once great nation to march, eyes wide open, into tyranny. At fifty five, I have never been this scared in all my life, never less proud of our political system, its "leaders", and lack of moral compass exhibited by the majority of my fellow Americans. I do remain hopeful that we might learn from our experience, and leave a better world for future generations.

- Romney still can't explain his tax plan!

- Romney's 20 percent tax cut for all Americans will, as economists estimate, cost about $5 Trillion over 10 years. - How does Romney intend to make up for the lost revenue? He says he will "find" ways to raise $5 Trillion to make up for his elimination of revenue.

- Romney references the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) that like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is actually a very partisan Republican group that is funded mostly by large corporations, NOT small businesses.

-Romney continues to lie about "Obamacare" cutting over $700 Billion from Medicare, with the insinuation that those cuts are to Beneficiaries.

- Fact/Truth: "Obamacare" does NOT cut anything from Medicare Beneficiaries, as Romney insinuates. The cuts are to providers, and actuaries say that the savings will actually Extend the life of the program and that the cuts WON'T affect benefits.

- Fact/Truth: Paul Ryan's budget (supported by Romney) includes the exact same cuts of over $700 Billion, and almost every other Republican in the House voted for them.

Romney likes to say that by letting the Bush tax cuts expire for the top tier of income earners will hurt "small businesses". However, the mom and pop, our dentist and doctor's offices that pay taxes like individuals, as they are classified as S-corps will not have their taxes raised as Romney claims. - The people he is talking about are the large corporations that classify themselves as S-corps for tax purposes.
_____Example: One of the "small businesses" registered as an S-corp is the country's second largest privately held corporations...Koch Industries.

Romney invoked death panels, when he said that "Obamacare" has "a board that will tell people what kind of treatment they're going to get." - This is a flat out lie.

Fact/Truth: The IPAB is a board comprised of doctors, hospital officials and government officials that look for the best practices to reduce the cost of Medicare only. - Medicare... a government program.

Fact/Truth: The IPBA does NOT make any decisions on any individual patient cases.

Fact/Truth: The IPBA is subject to congressional oversight.

Fact/Truth: The IPAB is legally prohibited from rationing care.

Romney finally came out and looked very presidential indeed.
My husband, a business owner, will be very excited to learn that if Obamacare is repealed he will not have to lay off workers or pass expense on to his employees. Our insurance premiums HAVE risen and will go up when this is fully implemented.
Ask any doctor and they will tell you that heath care WILL be rationed with advisory board. Look up Ezekial Emanuel article, The Complete Lives System, in which he talks about heath care being rationed if under 2 and over 60.
Medicare is being reduced to hospitals and doctors and I in fact know doctors who have already cut back on seeing Medicare patients. They are not being reimbursed and will soon stop seeing Medicare patients which is happening now. Senior citizens have a right to be concerned as Obama is throwing them under the bus. Don't believe liberal media. At least educate yourself and listen to talk radio, 990 AM and 106.9 FM.

Liberals will try and distort the truth which is hard to run from when the American people finally get to hear the truth from a political candidate. Romney is that guy.
Obama is the one who went to private school and has paid to keep most of his information sealed from us. He never held a job other than with corrupt Acorn. He doesn't know anything about economics. We have 23 million people out of work, 47 million on food stamps, unemployment over 8% going on 4 years, Middle East on fire and threat of nuclear Iran within months, bumbled Libya terrorist attack which was not labeled a terrorist attack on 9/11 by this administration, bowing down to Arab countries while throwing ally Israel under the bus. I could go on and on with the utter lies and media cover-ups to get their radical leftist elected again.

MAry you realize Romney and Obama went to the same Ivy League school right? You also realize he NEVER worked for Acorn right? You also realize that unemployment is LOWER than it was when Bush left office, right?

Do you think repeating the same lies that your heard on "talk radio" from the likes of Rush Limbaugh will some how make them more believable? Look, you guy had a good night. Why ruin it by making up lies about Obama?

Unemployment isn't above 8%??
47 million now not on food stamps, up from 32%??
Remember that trillion dollar "stimulus" which was supposed to lower unemployment below
6%.
6 trillion now occurred on Obama's watch.
90 billion spent on his failed solar projects which we will have to pay back.
Who is drinking the look aid???;

To all the kool-aid drinkers, the facts ARE there. You refuse to believe it and listen to all your liberal talking points!!!
Everyone should be listening to the other side bc the liberal media are doing everything they can do now to get their phony and fraudulent president over the finish line. They are LYING to get their radical leftist elected under a media of mostly 80-90% liberal lies.
Look at the facts. Liberals cannot run from the facts. All they come up with are the same talking points learned on CNN and MSNBC. Romney put out factual information which our lovely liberal media should be reporting on and stop cheerleading this disaster in office.

Ok, what are the facts about how we're going to pay down the debt while also cutting taxes by 20% for everyone? We've established that closing vague 'loopholes' won't come close to covering that. How are closing those 'loopholes' functionally different from raising individual taxes? Romney can deny the 4.7 trillion cost over the next decade of his plan all he wants, but until there's a complete, public plan set before us, why would we go along with that, especially when he spent so much time reiterating points that have been independently debunked for months?

If the facts are there, what are all the loopholes? How exactly will lower taxes pay off a massive debt? What kind of guarantees do we have the corporations are going to spend their tax breaks on creating domestic jobs?

I would like to hear what scary mary k has to say about that.
Btw, the conservative owned wall street journal reported that Romney's stated cuts in tax deductions and tax credits (mentioned twice during the debate) means that he intends to cut the mortgage interest deduction and child tax credits on federal income taxes. Who would that affect? Mostly lower and middle income workers. I doubt she has ever worked a day in her life.

Agnes, typically the wealthy gain FAR more from the mortgage deduction than the 'lower and middle income workers.' Think about how that deduction works, and consider the plan is to reduce the benefit on a sliding income scale. The plan will also cap charitable deductions, again, impacting wealthy taxpayers. There are other deduction caps in Romney's plan, all aimed at the hardest working citizens, the evil wealthy. Romney recognizes that many citizen feel strong resentment for those who have earned more than them, and he is responding. Feel better?
