Harriton Star QB's Return Questionable

Pat Moriarty has an injured right ankle.

junior quarterback Pat Moriarty’s right ankle, which suffered ligament damage against Lower Merion on Oct. 14, will get an answer on Wednesday whether or not he’ll be able to play against Penncrest this Friday.

He was forced to watch the Rams’ 49-0 loss against Ridley with a walking boot on last Friday night. Moriarty had led the area—all of southeastern Pennsylvania—in passing, with over 1,500 yards this season.

The Rams are 4-4 this season, with three games left. Moriarty will return this season, but he wants to make sure his ankle is sound before he steps on the field again.

“You have to be patient, and getting hurt makes you value every second on the field,” Moriarty said. “I’m not taking any chances with this. If it’s only 100-percent, I’ll be back. I’m probably at 50-percent right now. The swelling has gone down, it’s real bruised. I can walk and jog on it, and I haven’t even tried running on it. They normally say it’s six weeks to recover from this.”

Moriarty will be fitted for a brace on Tuesday and it will be determined Wednesday whether or not he’ll play. But he’ll need a doctor’s permission to play on Friday.

“I want to play, but I want to be 100 percent and able to do the things I can do, because I can risk hurting it even more,” Moriarty said.
