Get Out: Arts Festival, Bird Walk, Sept. 11 Ceremonies

What's happening in the Ardmore Patch area this weekend.

This is a busy weekend for Ardmore, with several festivals, a bird walk, a few local Sept. 11 ceremonies, and more. Check out Main Line Art Center's kid-friendly art festival in honor of its 75th anniversary, or head to the Friendship Fair at Congregation Beth Hamedrosh, a fun afternoon for children with special needs. Additionally, two ceremonies commemorating the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 are taking place close by in Bryn Mawr.

Family Arts Festival. It's Main Line Art Center's 75th anniversary, and to celebrate, they're hosting a free art festival in their garden (and indoors as well—it's a rain or shine event). The event features entertainment by The Cat’s Pajamas and John Cassidy, food and hands-on art projects for children. There will also be a special unveiling of the new Arts Alive Mobile.

At this fair, the children with special needs will jump on a moon bounce and get a chance to make their own shofar for the upcoming Jewish New Year.

September Bird Walk: General Wayne Park. Enjoy a walk through nature with gardener and naturalist Helen Peachey and the Lower Merion Conservancy’s Patty Thompson to learn about the park's birds—woodpeckers, migrating warblers, thrushes and more. Ages 8 and older. All levels of birders are welcome; bring binoculars and field guides if possible. Park on the street and meet at the Maplewood Avenue entrance.
