Gas Prices Skyrocket, AAA Says
Find out what the prices are like in Ardmore, Merion and Wynnewood.
This past week has seen gas prices jumping more than two digits in many areas of the country, including the Philadelphia area, according to AAA.
AAA attributes the price jump to a rise in crude oil prices and some refineries closing for good or for maintenance. They call this week-over-week spike the most dramatic in nearly two years.
In the Ardmore-Merion-Wynnewood Patch, the best price is $3.57 at the Exxon on Montgomery Avenue in Ardmore, according to Patch’s commute report.
Here are the average gas prices from February 5, according to AAA:
| Area | Average Price | Jump in last week |
| Philadelphia (5-County) | $3.67/gallon | 18 cents |
| South Jersey | $3.52/gallon | 18 cents |
| Delaware | $3.62/gallon | 21 cents |
| National | $3.53/gallon | 17 cents |

Getty in Bryn Mawr was great as a full service station but now it has re opened as self. Too bad, it was perfect for getting gas with a car full of kids. Perfect spot for a drive thru Swiss farms ... Still missing from rte 30 after all these years.
