Astronomers were predicting that Saturday’s Super Moon would be even more super than usual.

The clouds made it hard to see it from the Philadelphia area. Were you able to see it?

Patch wants to know what you saw. Upload your photos and/or tell us in the comments area. Don’t forget to let us know where in the Philadelphia you were when you saw the moon.

This Super Moon (a phrase coined by astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979) appears especially large because the moment of perigee—when the moon is closest to the Earth in its monthly rotation—will coincide with the appearance of a perfectly full moon, Smithsonian points out. During last year’s Super Moon on March 19, 2011, for comparison, the perigee and full moon were 50 minutes apart.

Was anyone as disappointed about this as I was? I just saw clouds until 12:15, when they parted long enough for us to see the (by that time) normal-looking full moon.

It was a pretty site, but not substantially larger than normal. We are up in Fleetville for a getaway and saw it rise over the mountains and shine off the lake with some intensity. But all in all, just a nice full moon. I'll upload pix when I return to Malvern.

Too cloudy last night. Having seen it in the past, it is awesome as it rises.

Was at the Jersey shore and it was completely obscured by the cloud cover.

It seems it is cloudy every time there is an astronomical event.

as we were leaving Allentown, we saw the rising moon, and that was pretty spectacular, both color & size. As we headed to Philly, it clouded over, and never saw it at the time they said it would be the largest/brightest. very disappointed.

I thought about it all day and then forgot - too busy laughing through SNL - but photos from around the world were amazing, especially the one from Rio of Sugarloaf and the Jesus statue.
