About: The James A. Michener Art Museum is named after the Pulitzer-Prize winning author who lived in Doylestown. Massive stone walls and a house that began as the Bucks County prison in 1884 now make up the core of the museum, which is home to a collection of Bucks County visual arts, as well as 19th and 20th century American art. The museum features works of Pennsylvania Impressionism created by artists from the New Hope area in the early 1900s. A special exhibit of treasures from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy is on display until August 12, 2012.
