Bubble Tea, Frozen Yogurt Coming To Downtown Ardmore
18 W Lancaster Ave. in Ardmore, formerly a nail salon, will sell both kinds of cold treats, Lower Merion's retail coordinator confirmed.
Ardmore locals will soon be able to grab two trendy treats at 18 W Lancaster Ave., the site of a combination frozen yogurt and bubble tea shop that will take the place of Organic Nails & Spa.
Bubble tea is a slushy- or smoothie-style drink with a wide variety of types and flavors, including everything from black tea to avocado, red bean and strawberry. Its name comes from the chewy tapioca balls the drink is served over.
The lease for the space, located between Viva Video and Princess Nails & Spa in downtown Ardmore, was signed about two weeks ago, Lower Merion retail coordinator Heidi Tirjan said.
Few details—as suggested by the simple "Coming Soon: Frozen Yogurt" sign posted on the storefront—are available at the moment.
But "coming soon," Tirjan said, could mean as quickly as four to six weeks from now, given the minimal renovations necessary for a frozen treat business.
Local frozen yogurt shops include Kiwi Yogurt in Haverford and Yapple Yogurt in Wynnewood. FruittiYummi in Ardmore's Suburban Square is the latest addition to the rising froyo trend, and is located about a two-minute walk from the upcoming Lancaster Avenue shop. Lower Merion has no stand-alone bubble tea shops.

Awesome the tea comes back to Philly. In CA it's been sold at gas stations and stands for 15 years by now. Last place around here i knew to find it was the now closed Vietnamese place by milk boy Bryn Mawr. Cheers.

Ardmore may be getting trendy. Bubble Tea is very fun drink. All the best to these risk takers. Unfortunately, the Township is not, particularly, user friendly to businesses and the customer base is less than trendy. Nevertheless, this is good news and I look forward to its opening.

Trendy, nice. When you think about it, Ardmore is just a few key decisions away from being 'trendy' in time. With over a dozen colleges and such a vibrant population- if you build up the correct way many business models would do well. Lets hope. In five years folks will look back and see what an opportunity the area 'was' back 'then' ...

Good point with all the schools around, you would think Lower Merion would be intellectually vibrant and stylishly cosmopolitan instead of being a bit drab.

Good point. You would think with all the colleges in this community , Lower Merion more Marion would be more intellectually vibrant and stylishly trendy instead of intellectually uniform and conformist and, sorry to say, drab and somewhat shabby.
