Barbacoa Expands Hours, Opens for Lunch Monday
Beginning Aug. 20, the new Ardmore restaurant will be open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch.
Barbacoa, the popular new rotisserie restaurant on Rittenhouse Place in Ardmore, will be open for lunch starting Monday, Aug. 20, according to co-owner Robert Hayes.
"We will be serving our main meats and chicken but will offer some interesting sandwich options to keep things interesting," Hayes said in an email.
Barbacoa's food centers around wood-fire concepts, rotisserie and barbecue ("barbacoa" in Spanish), and is known for its juicy Peruvian chicken.
The community's response to the new restaurant, since it opened in June, has been overwhelming, Hayes said.
"We have gotten great response from everyone that has come in," Hayes said. "We are very excited to hear the compliments and we are doing really well on sites like Yelp and Facebook. We were a little overwhelmed when we opened because it exceeded our expectations and our ability to produce in a timely manner."
Now, though, the restaurant has purchased additional equipment to handle the volume.
And there is more excitement planned for after Labor Day, Hayes said. After Labor Day, "we are also planning on kicking off a pop-up restaurant concept on Monday nights. ... We will be doing something different than our normal dinner menu every Monday night to offer some options for our customers when the restaurant would normally be closed," Hayes said.
The menu will be announced via Facebook and Twitter for followers, Hayes said.
Barbacoa, located at 64 Rittenhouse Place in Ardmore, will be open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday beginning Aug. 20. Dinner hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. The restaurant can be reached at 610-642-0600.

The place has potential but when we ate there the ribs came out warm (not hot - however good) and the chicken had great flavor but was refrigerator cold inside. When reported to the waiter he gave us a blank stare and did nothing to rectify the situation ie.take the chicken back to the kitchen and put it on the grill.
