A cash-for-gold business, Jewels of the Main Line, will be moving in soon to 38 Rittenhouse Place in Ardmore.

"It’s obviously not our first choice for a retailer," commented Heidi Tirjan, Lower Merion Township retail coordinator, earlier this week.

The Rittenhouse Place property, which used to house Chairloom, has been vacant since the upholstery company moved to a larger space on E Spring Avenue about six months ago.

The storefront is a fairly small space, and the township had a hard time finding a business that would take it, Tirjan said.

The owner of the property leased the building to the precious metals company on a month-to-month basis. So the good news, Tirjan said, "is that whenever we do get a retailer for that space, [the property owner] doesn't have to keep them."

Jewels of the Main Line will be Ardmore's second precious metals broker. Main Line Precious Metals is the other. (Read an interview with the owners of Main Line Precious Metals.)
