3 Schools Need 2012-2013 Principals
No one was hired at Monday's Lower Merion school board meeting. The board convenes again June 11.
Three of Lower Merion School District's 10 schools, including both middle schools, still don't have principals for next school year and won't before mid-June at the earliest.
The Lower Merion Board of School Directors did not move Monday night to fill any of its vacancies at Bala Cynwyd Middle School, Welsh Valley Middle School and Cynwyd Elementary School.
BCMS principal Margery Andersen and CES principal Connie DiMedio are retiring at the end of June, as is Harriton High School principal Steven Kline, who's being replaced by current WVMS principal Scott Eveslage.
The board's next meeting is at 8 p.m. June 11, when members are expected to finalize the 2012-13 budget. A recent study showed Lower Merion among the Pennsylvania school districts with the largest reserve funds.
Also Monday night, school officials recognized eight employees marking 25 years with the district:
- Gregg Eskin, Welsh Valley music. "I'm living the dream, every day," Eskin said at the meeting.
- Deborah McAllister, Penn Valley physical education. "Every day, I wake up and I say, 'This is really the best job I could possibly have,'" McAllister said.
- Bill Freed, electrician. "Lower Merion's been a great place to have a career," Freed said.
- Other new members of the 25-year club who did not attend the meeting were Michael McCoy, supervisor of utilities and building maintenance, bus aide Liz Long, secretary Helen Saracina and school psychologists Ellen Madof and Santa Clara Cucinotta.
