Fire crews in Lower Merion and Haverford townships had a brief burst of activity Friday afternoon battling two home fires in Ardmore, with no one in ether house injured as a result.
Members of the Merion Fire Co. of Ardmore, assisted by the Narberth Fire Co., responded to a blaze on the 200 block of Argyle Road in Ardmore at about 1:45 p.m. that was described as “in the wall on the second floor” of a home under construction there.
The fire was quickly controlled by firefighters, and was still under investigation as of 5 p.m., Merion Fire Co. Chief Tom Hayden told Patch.
The other fire was reported less than a half-hour later, on the 2800 block of Haverford Road in Ardmore, in Haverford Township. There, a one-story home was set ablaze by careless smoking, according to John Martin, vice president of Home Insured Services Inc., who was on the scene in the wake of the fire being extinguished.
Fire and rescue units from Oakmont, Brookline, Manoa, Bryn Mawr, Bon Air and Llanerch responded to the scene, an official confirmed.
Fire and smoke damage from the exterior appeared major, and it is not known if the home will be salvageable.
Two adults were seen leaving the premises unharmed, and said they did not wish to discuss the fire.
