An estimated $169,700 in jewelry, accessories and electronics was stolen from a Penn Wynne home on Oct. 3, Lower Merion police told news media at a Monday briefing. 

According to the report, the homeowner left her house on the unit block of Meredith Road in Penn Wynne around 8:35 a.m. All the doors and windows were locked, and she had set the security alarm, police said. 

The homeowner received a call around 10:45 a.m. from the alarm company, who informed her that the alarm system had been triggered; she told them to notify police, according to the report.

It appears the burglar or burglars gained entry by prying open a back door, police said.

Some of the items missing include:

• Two Versace purses, worth $3,300
• Silver utensils and platters, worth $2,100
• Electronics including an iPod, iPad, Nook, 3 DS games, a Nintendo game, worth $2,500
• Two Tiffany crystal candle sticks, worth $950
• About 85 pieces of jewelry

Another home on Meredith Road may have been the target of an intended burglary last week as well, police said.

On Oct. 4, a homeowner on Meredith Road called police to inform them of damage to the rear door of his home. Upon investigation, police determined that the door appeared to have been pried or jammed open, but no entry was gained, according to the police report.

Two other burglaries also occured in Penn Wynne and Wynnewood last week.
