Two Friends’ Central Students Earn National Scholarships
Friends’ Central School is pleased to announce that two seniors, Spencer Villars and Myles Everett, have been awarded scholarships by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for their exemplary PSAT and SAT scores, academic records, and extracurricular activities.
Villars, a Philadelphia resident, was selected as a winner of a National Merit $2,500 Scholarship. Of the more than 1.5 million students nationwide who took the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), only 8,300 earn a National Merit Scholarship.
Everett, a resident of Media, was awarded a National Achievement $2,500 Scholarship. Of the more than 160,000 students who took the 2010 PSAT/NMSQT and requested consideration in the National Achievement Program, in which only Black Americans participate, only 800 win a National Achievement Scholarship.
