GIANT Food Stores in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and local law enforcement agencies, will participate in the national “drug take-back” initiative on Saturday, September 29. Expired and unwanted medications can be brought into a participating GIANT location from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. All medications will be disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner at no cost to the customer.
“GIANT is proud to once again partner with the DEA and local law enforcement agencies this year to provide a safe place in the community where customers can properly dispose of unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications,” said Leigh Shirley, director of pharmacy operations. “Our medication take-back day earlier this year resulted in the collection of nearly three tons of unwanted medications and we urge customers to clean out their medicine cabinets for this fall disposal drive.”
There is no cost to participants and customers will not receive refunds. Personal information (for example, names and addresses) should be crossed out or removed. No sharps or syringes will be accepted.
