Briggs joins in fight to help victims of child sexual abuse

HARRISBURG,  Jan. 23 – State Rep. Tim Briggs, D-Montgomery, is joining an effort to update archaic statute of limitations laws in child sex abuse cases.

At a Capitol news conference on Wednesday he joined fellow lawmakers in discussing legislation that would abolish the statute of limitations on criminal charges and civil lawsuits in cases of child sexual abuse, as well as suspend for two years now expired statute of limitations in child sex abuse cases, providing a window of opportunity for those victims to file a civil lawsuit.

The legislation (H.B.s 237 and 238) will go before the House Judiciary Committee for consideration.
